WMA is a friends' organization to the Watkins Mill Woolen State Park & Historic Site. Our mission is to preserve and support the Watkins Family Farm's legacy and to encourage lifelong learning. Membership allows the association to assist the historic site with regular maintenance, improvements to the historical exhibits, and the continuation of educational programs. We hope that you will consider helping us to preserve this legacy for future generations to come.

Welcome to the Watkins Woolen Mill State Historic Site Volunteer Program! Are you passionate about history, preservation, and community engagement? Join us in preserving the rich history of Watkins Mill State Historic Site by becoming a valued member of our dedicated volunteer team!

  • Volunteer Opportunities

    • Historical Interpreters: Bring history to life by portraying characters from Watkins Mill's past during events and guided tours.
    • Event Coordinators: Assist in organizing and executing special events, from reenactments to educational programs.
    • Master Gardeners & Grounds Maintenance: Help maintain the site's beauty by participating in gardening, landscaping, and general maintenance activities.
    • Visitor Center Ambassadors: Welcome and assist visitors, providing information about the site's history and upcoming events.
    • Archival Support: Work behind the scenes with our archival team to preserve and catalog historical documents and artifacts.
    • Campground Hosts: serve as a "live-in" ambassador at our state park. Hosts perform a variety of tasks and duties while living in their own RV parked on an assigned campsite that is provided in exchange for their service.
